Description
In his keynote address to the IIEA, Vice-President de Guindos discusses the extraordinary measures taken by the ECB to counter the risks posed by the pandemic to financial stability and the smooth transmission of monetary policy in the euro area. He also reflects on the economic outlook for the euro area and consider the role that the EU’s financial agenda could play in the recovery phase.
About the Speaker:
Luis de Guindos is Vice-President of the European Central Bank since June 2018. In this capacity, he is also a member of the Executive Board, the Governing Council and General Council of the ECB. Before joining the ECB, Vice-President de Guindos was Spanish Minister of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness (2016-2018) and Minister of Economy and Competitiveness (2011-2016). He previously served as Head of Financial Services at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Chief Executive Officer Iberia at Lehman Brothers and Chief Executive Officer at Nomura Securities.
