Dr. Erik Aschenbrand talks about the UNESCO 'Man and the Biosphere' Programme. In order to understand the history of the programme's origins, he invites on a journey through time starting in 1968 and points out milestones and motives for setting up the programme. Among the milestones: the Seville Strategy, Madrid Action Plan, Lima Declaration and Action Plan. Furthermore he explains how the MAB governance is organised and what the tasks of its main bodies are.
