Description
United Nations - In Armenia and Georgia, there’s growing opposition to long prison sentences. In Armenia, very few inmates are released on parole, with more than a quarter behind bars even though they have not been convicted. With support from the United Nations Democracy Fund, UNDEF, both these former Soviet Republics are looking at other types of sanctions to promote alternatives to long term sentencing.
